Just for you, Pop; a view from my Hill. Taken from where the front porch will be.
After a rather roundabout adventure with many ups, downs and curves that spanned more than 10 years and involved buying the Gorgeous Land and living in the Little Old House, we made the difficult decision to buy this house, (okay, so I'm starting somewhere in the middle, I will get to the beginning. someday).
and move it up the hill behind our Little Old House.
The House was bought. After hours, days and weeks of back breaking work by M and our tractor the Big Orange, the site was prepared and this new driveway was put in. The site was evaluated by a gentleman from the place where we bought the House. We had approval, the move was a go.
The morning of delivery day came after an almost sleepless night. We were both so excited and apprehensive. Because after all, it is a big Hill.
The install crew pulled the House to a parking lot about 3 miles from us and drove the winding road into our little valley to check out the site. What a novel idea, check things out ahead of time, almost. The Boss Guy took one look at the new driveway and announced, "No way, the entrance grade is too steep!" Our hearts fell, if they couldn't get it up the Hill what were we going to do. Boss Guy walked the road to evaluate angles and came up with a plan to put in an earthen ramp up from the road through the middle of the front yard of the Little Old House. They would be back the following week to do it.
They took our House back.
